Different types of Wheelchairs

Transit Wheelchairs

Transit wheelchairs are the most popular type of wheelchair because they allow a user of the wheelchair to be pushed by an attendant, hence them often being known as attendant wheelchairs. They have smaller wheels at the back as the user would not be pushing themselves. They can often fold up to be transported in a car, for hospital trips and days out.

Self Propelled Wheelchairs

If you are looking for a wheelchair that you want to push yourself as the user in then a self propelled wheelchair is the option to go with. They come with larger rear wheels and hand rims on them so that you can propel yourself along. They do still have attendant handles and so can be used in the same manner as a transit wheelchair should you need to rest or come across difficult terrain.

Folding Wheelchairs

All of the wheelchairs that we stock fold so that you can easily load them into your car to take with you where ever you may need to go. Our customers often use folding wheelchairs for trips to the garden centre or on holiday!

Positioning Wheelchairs

At Mobility Your Way we also offer a positioning wheelchairs. These are designed for care environments where the user may have more complex requirements. Positioning wheelchairs allow the user to be move or adjusted into different positions to help with comfort, healing or posture.
