Welcome to Mobility Your Way – where accessibility meets affordability! If you’re living with a long-term illness or disability, we’ve got great news for you: certain goods designed or adapted for personal or domestic use are eligible for 0% VAT. This inclusive scheme extends beyond the product purchase to cover installations, repairs, maintenance, spare parts, and accessories, aiming to ease the financial burden associated with disability-related needs.
Identifying eligible products is a breeze – just look for the VAT Exempt badge while exploring our site. These specially designed items qualify for VAT relief, ensuring you don’t pay VAT as long as your disability or long-term illness aligns with the scheme’s criteria.
Wondering if you qualify?
For VAT purposes, you’re considered disabled or have a long-term illness if you have a physical or mental impairment significantly affecting your daily activities, a condition recognized as a chronic sickness by the medical profession (e.g., diabetes), or if you’re terminally ill. Elderly individuals without a disability or temporary disabilities don’t fall under this category. Plus, you don’t have to make the purchase in person – if someone buys on your behalf, like a parent, guardian, spouse, or husband, you’re still eligible for VAT relief.
Ready to make a purchase?
When placing your order, we’ll guide you through a simple process where you’ll make a legally binding declaration about your illness or disability. This declaration, required by HMRC, ensures compliance with Group 12 of Schedule 8 of the Value Added Tax Act 1994. Your privacy matters to us – the information you provide is strictly confidential and used solely for applying VAT relief to your supplied products and for HMRC’s VAT accounting.
Curious about what qualifies as personal or domestic use?
It means the goods or services are intended for your private use, not for business purposes.
If you’re unsure about eligibility or have questions, refer to Notice 701/7 VAT reliefs for disabled people or reach out to the HMRC National Advice Service at 0845 010 9000 (open from 8 am to 8 pm, Monday to Friday). At Mobility Your Way, we’re committed to making accessibility affordable, ensuring everyone can move through life with ease!
